Goa, 10th November 2025: The fifth edition of IRONMAN 70.3 GOA, INDIA began in spectacular fashion at sunrise on Sunday, as Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon. Chief Minister of Goa. Shri Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, Government of Goa. Deepak Raj, Race Director, IRONMAN 70.3 Goa, India. Saiyami Kher, Actress & Race Weekend Ambassador, IRONMAN 70.3 Goa, India. Neil D’Silva, IRONMAN 70.3 Goa Event Director and Sunil Morajkar, among others flagged off the race from the iconic Miramar Beach. Over 1300 triathletes from 31 countries plunged into the Arabian Sea, marking yet another milestone for the event, which has now welcomed athletes from 62 nations across its five editions.
IRONMAN 70.3 GOA
Uzbekistan’s Konstantin Belousov stormed to victory in the men’s category, completing the course in 4:25:47, while the UK’s Ellie Garrett clinched the women’s title with a commanding finish in 5:18:43. The Indian Air Force contingent dominated the relay event, sweeping all three podium positions with remarkable ease.
The course challenged athletes with a 1.9 km swim, 90 km cycling leg, and a 21.1 km run, weaving through scenic coastal stretches and Goa’s heritage-lined avenues. Alongside them, hundreds of supporters gathered across the route, transforming the city into a sea of cheers, energy, and colour. The atmosphere reinforced Goa’s growing reputation as one of Asia’s most stunning and athlete-friendly IRONMAN destinations.
In a heartwarming highlight, women’s champion Ellie Garrett raced alongside her husband, Tom Garrett, who finished eighth overall with a time of 4:51:37. The couple, who have completed over 30 half-distance and 10 full-distance IRONMAN races worldwide, chose to forgo their World Championship qualification slots this year to experience the unique charm of racing in Goa. Tom, now a full-time triathlon coach, and Ellie, a physiotherapist who supports his training programs, described the event as one of their most memorable race experiences.
“That was amazing. It was the hardest 70.3 I’ve ever done, but it was just stunning. Running along and looking at the sea took some of the pain away. It reminded me of the early races that had a family feel, that’s why we got into it. And when you cross the finish line, the pain just disappears, the world stops for five seconds. It’s an incredible feeling, Ellie shared.
Tom added, “I didn’t have my bike today, but I managed to win my age group and finish in the top 10 overall, so I’m really happy. And I’m over the moon that Ellie won the women’s race. It’s really turned my month around. We’ve loved every part of this trip; the people, the place, the food, the weather, everything’s exceeded our expectations. We’ve wanted to race here for years, and now that we finally have, I’m sure we’ll be back. The local support was unbelievable; kids giving high-fives, people cheering all the way. It makes a huge difference when you’re pushing yourself to the limit.”
Adding to the weekend’s festivities, Olympian swimmer-turned-coach Sandeep Sejwal teamed up with his colleagues from the Inspire Institute of Sport, Rishab Chauhan and Makarand Mane, to compete in the relay category. The trio finished 140th with a time of 6:07:06. Meanwhile, Member of Lok Sabha Tejasvi Surya conquered IRONMAN 70.3 GOA, INDIA for the second consecutive year, joined by K. Annamalai, who became only the second Indian politician to earn the coveted title of IRONMAN.
The spirit of the event extended beyond the main race, as more than 900 young participants took part in the Policybazaar IRONKIDS race on Saturday, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and the promise of the next generation of triathletes to Goa’s vibrant shores.

After Women’s Cricket Glory, Spotlight Turns to Women’s Wrestling: Pro Wrestling League Set to Redefine the Future

New Delhi: As the nation celebrates the Indian Women’s Cricket Team’s historic World Cup victory, another sport is preparing to step into the limelight — women’s wrestling.

Just days before the cricket triumph, the Pro Wrestling League (PWL) was officially announced at a grand press conference in New Delhi, confirming its much-awaited return in January 2026.

Together, these two milestones signal a powerful new chapter in Indian sports — one where women athletes are leading the nation’s success stories across disciplines.

Pro Wrestling League 2026: A New Beginning

The revived Pro Wrestling League (PWL) promises to bring wrestling back to center stage with a vibrant, professional, and gender-inclusive model.

Supported by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), the league will follow an IPL-style franchise format, featuring a mix of top Indian and international wrestlers.

A WFI spokesperson at the launch event said, “The return of PWL is not just about entertainment — it’s about giving India’s women wrestlers a global platform to shine. After the phenomenal success of our women cricketers, wrestling is ready to script the next chapter in India’s sporting revolution.”

Special Focus on Women’s Participation

One of the most exciting aspects of PWL 2026 is its dedicated focus on promoting women’s participation and leadership in wrestling.
The league organizers have committed to ensuring:

  • Equal representation of women athletes across teams.
  • Prime-time telecasts for women’s matches to boost viewership.
  • Mentorship programs pairing emerging wrestlers with senior champions.
  • Equal prize money and sponsorship opportunities for female competitors.

This emphasis aligns with India’s growing movement toward gender parity in sports and aims to make wrestling an aspirational career choice for young girls across the country.

CEO of Pro Wrestling League, Mr. Akhil Gupta said : “The return of the Pro Wrestling League is not just about reviving a sport, it’s about reigniting a dream. Our women wrestlers have the talent, grit, and fire to stand tall on any global stage. With equal opportunities and stronger visibility, we’re building a future where wrestling inspires every young girl to believe she can. This is more than a league, it’s India’s movement of strength and sisterhood.”

Cricket’s Inspiration, Wrestling’s Opportunity

The Indian women’s cricket team’s World Cup win has redefined how fans and sponsors perceive women athletes.
Sports analysts believe this newfound enthusiasm will now spill over into wrestling — opening doors for corporate investments, endorsements, and mass fan engagement in PWL.

With India already home to world-class wrestlers like Sakshi Malik, Antim Panghal, and Vinesh Phogat, the Pro Wrestling League could become a turning point — transforming wrestling from a rural pursuit to a national prime-time sport.

Grassroots Empowerment and Broader Vision

The PWL revival also carries a developmental goal. Training academies in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra are gearing up for talent scouting programs to identify and support young women wrestlers.
Simultaneously, government initiatives and CSR-backed sports foundations are aligning resources to expand coaching, nutrition, and international exposure.

This dual approach — professional platform plus grassroots growth — is expected to establish wrestling as one of India’s strongest medal hopes for the Paris 2028 Olympics and beyond.

As India basks in the glow of its women cricketers’ triumph, the return of the Pro Wrestling League 2026 marks the beginning of another inspiring journey.

It’s more than a league — it’s a movement, symbolizing strength, equality, and opportunity for India’s women athletes.

From the pitch to the mat, India’s daughters are not just competing — they’re changing the face of Indian sports forever.

Bengaluru Torpedoes Crowned PVL 2025 Champions After Dominant Final Win

PVL 2025: Bengaluru Torpedoes become Champions of Season 4 with dominant win over Mumbai Meteors in Final

India, 27th October, 2025: Bengaluru Torpedoes were crowned as the Champions of the RR Kabel Prime Volleyball League powered by Scapia at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday, after defeating the Mumbai Meteors 15-13, 16-4, 15-13 in the final.

Bengaluru Torpedoes vs Mumbai Meteors - 2

Both the teams began cautiously, running the game from the middle zone. Petter Alstad Ostvik blocked Joel Benjamin, while Bengaluru roared back with Jishnu’s block on Shubham Chaudhary. Service pressure from Sethu edged Bengaluru ahead, pushing the Meteors to call for a super point. Despite the Meteors pushing close, Bengaluru captain and setter Matt West’s effectiveness with his distributions helped the Torpedoes win the first set.

Sethu began the second set with the first super serve of the night. A series of unforced errors from Mumbai helped Bengaluru’s cause. Despite Om Lad Vasant making tremendous plays for his attackers, Shubham and captain Amit Gulia overhit their shots. Consistent attacks from Joel made it hard for the Meteors to contain the opposition, and the Torpedoes took a two-set lead with Joel’s super serve.

Jalen Penrose joined in on the attack in the third set, firing thunderous spikes as Torpedoes maintained their momentum. Mumbai continued to put pressure with Shubham leading the counter-attack.

A risky super point call from Coach David Lee paid dividends for the Torpedoes with Penrose hitting the ball right on target. Despite Mumbai winning a super point of their own, the Torpedoes maintained their composure and sealed the title win with a service error from Nikhil.

  • Player of the Match in Final: Jishnu

14th October, 2025: Bengaluru Torpedoes defeated Chennai Blitz 17-15, 14-16, 17-15, 16-14 in the RR Kabel Prime Volleyball League powered by Scapia at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad on Monday, to continue their winning run in the tournament. Joel Benjamin was named the Player of the Match.

Chennai started the game at a lightning-fast pace with captain Jerome Vinith and Luiz Felipe Perotto leading the charge. Tarun Gowda synced well with setter Sameer to provide more depth to the Blitz’s attacks.

Banglore Torpedoes

Bengaluru relied on Joel Benjamin and Sethu to counter-attack. Mujeeb, Jishnu, and Nitin Minhas helped the Torpedoes in dominating the middle zone.

Once the Torpedoes’ defence began working in tandem, Chennai started finding it difficult to stitch their attacks. Libero Midhunkumar defended well for the Torpedoes, while skipper Mathew West ensured to find the right target for his passes.

Jerome and Perotto continued Chennai’s fightback. A couple of unforced errors from the Torpedoes opened up the door for the Blitz to make a comeback in the game. Blocker Aditya Rana’s presence on court put belief back in Chennai’s court.

Penrose made it count at a crucial juncture to tilt the game back in the Torpedoes’ corner. Two smart reviews from Coach David Lee proved fruitful, ensuring Bengaluru stayed in the lead. Penrose grew in confidence as the night progressed and brought the goods when Bengaluru needed the most, and the Torpedoes won the game 3-1.
