July 7 : India’s ambitious AI-led digital transformation has received a major boost as the National e-Governance Division , under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology , has empanelled six technology companies to implement Artificial Intelligence projects across government departments, state governments and public sector undertakings . The selected companies include Tata Consultancy Services , NEC Corporation India, CoRover Pvt. Ltd., Innefu Labs Ltd., Kyndryl Solutions Pvt. Ltd., and Cactus Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd. . The empanelment follows a competitive selection process involving nearly 80 bidders and creates a ready pool of trusted AI implementation partners for the government.

CoRover Emerges as a Key AI Partner for India’s Digital Governance

Among the six empanelled companies, Bengaluru-based CoRover has emerged as one of the key players entrusted with supporting the government‘s AI ambitions. The company’s inclusion reflects its growing role in India’s sovereign AI ecosystem and its expertise in deploying enterprise-grade conversational AI, multilingual virtual assistants and Generative AI solutions. Over the past few years, CoRover has worked with several government departments, public sector organisations and enterprises, delivering AI-powered citizen engagement platforms and digital assistants capable of serving users in multiple Indian languages. With this empanelment, CoRover is expected to play an even larger role in helping ministries and government agencies adopt AI-driven services at scale.

Simplifying AI Procurement Across Government

The empanelment has been designed to make AI adoption faster and more efficient across the public sector. Instead of floating separate tenders for every AI initiative, ministries and government bodies can directly engage any of the empanelled companies for AI consulting, development, deployment and support. The selected firms will provide services across the complete AI lifecycle, including AI strategy, solution development, machine learning models, intelligent document processing, citizen service automation, analytics, workflow optimisation and ongoing technical support. The empanelment will remain valid for two years, with an option to extend it for an additional year.

Supporting India’s AI-First Governance Vision

The move aligns with the government‘s broader Digital India and IndiaAI Mission, which aim to integrate Artificial Intelligence into governance while strengthening indigenous AI capabilities. As AI increasingly becomes central to public administration, the empanelled companies will help government departments build smarter digital services that improve efficiency, decision-making and citizen experience. The initiative is also expected to significantly reduce procurement timelines, enabling departments to move from pilot projects to large-scale AI deployments much faster. AI solutions developed under this framework are likely to support sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, taxation, public administration and citizen services.

A Milestone in India’s AI Journey
The empanelment marks another important milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a global AI powerhouse. Rather than treating AI as isolated innovation projects, the government is creating an ecosystem where trusted technology partners can help scale AI across ministries and states.

For CoRover, the selection further strengthens its position as one of India’s AI companies. Having already built solutions such as BharatGPT and deployed AI platforms for numerous public and private organisations, the company is now poised to contribute to the next phase of AI-led governance, helping bring intelligent, multilingual and citizen-centric digital services to millions of Indians.
