Mahavir Hospital is planning to set up a corporate hospital in the next two to three years in the backyard of the existing hospital in Masabtank, to earn money to support the existing facility
Hyderabad, March 23, 2025:Mahavir Hospital and Research Centre, a 47-year-old multi-specialty, 220-bed trust hospital, opened an Upgraded Cardiology Department on Sunday morning at its existing facility in Masab Tank in the city. The facility was upgraded for Rs.5 crore. The upgraded facility works in collaboration with KIMS Hospital.
The Facility was formally inaugurated by Dr B. Bhaskar Rao, CMD of KIMS Group of Hospitals, and Patil Kantilal Subhas, Dy Commissioner of Police, South East Zone, Hyderabad, in the presence of many trustees, standing committee members, and staff.
Dr Bhaskar Rao, a distinguished Cardio-thoracic surgeon addressing the 200-plus gathering said the missing link in any trust hospitals is the continuity of its office bearers so that they have sufficient time to plan and execute works.
This modernised facility has come up in close collaboration with Mahavir Hospital and KIMS Group. KIMS group has contributed equipment for the cath lab and extended support in many areas. Since it is a trust-run hospital, the cardiology services are offered at half of the cost charged in any corporate hospital, Dr Bhaskar Rao announced.
He also suggested that they build a carpus fund of Rs 1 crore. He also assured Rs 1 crore contribution from KIMS hospital for the same purpose. Soon after the announcement was made several donors came forward to contribute towards the same. It is not a donation but it is a refundable money, Dr Rao clarified.
Dr Bhaskar Rao also suggested adopting a Kaizen model, which refers to the idea of business improvement that focuses on gradual, incremental changes so that we can see Mahavir Hospital grow big very soon.
Giving his opening remarks, Mahendra Ranka, Chairman of the hospital said ‘In pursuit of excellence, we have continuously expanded and modernised our facilities. Cardiology, Pulmonology, and Gastroenterology are equipped with the latest advancements. The newly modernized and opened Cardiology Department has cutting-edge equipment, diagnostic rooms, 2D echocardiography, ECG and Treadmill Testing. It has consultation rooms, patient wards, a pharmacy, general and sharing rooms. Several donors donated the Rs 5 crore money spent on the upgradation’.
He also announced that the management committee was contemplating starting a new corporate hospital in the space available at the back of the hospital so as to earn there and support the existing trust hospital so that health care will be available at an affordable cost to the middle-class people.
Sunil Pahade, Vice Chairman of the Hospital said that they successfully managed to create infrastructure and sought help from donors for the equipment. He also highlighted that the hospital enjoys full unity and support from the Jain community in the city in developing the hospital.
Sushil Sancheti, Trustee Treasurer said the Bhagwan Mahavir Memorial Trust is now 175 trustees strong. Ever since we took over the management this January, we raised over Rs 2.5 crore, another 50 lakh CSR fund, and one more crore committed. The full-fledged, modernised Gynecology ward will be functional in the next two months. The Diagnostic facility and Blood Bank are modernised and are on par with the best in comparison to any corporate hospital. The Hospital was also working on getting Quality standard certifications such as NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) and NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) which are on the cards and confident of getting their accreditation in the next one-year span of time.
