Mumbai, Oct 26: Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed every October, aims to raise awareness about breast cancer, encourage early detection and highlight the importance of regular screening and timely medical consultation. This year’s theme, “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” recognises the individual experiences of people affected by breast cancer and underscores the importance of awareness, timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment and support throughout the care journey. Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women, making early detection and access to appropriate healthcare essential.

Despite growing awareness, limited knowledge of symptoms and hesitation to seek medical advice can delay breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. This year’s theme highlights the individual challenges patients face, from recognising early signs to navigating treatment and recovery. Encouraging regular screening, breast self-examinations, open conversations and timely medical consultation, alongside access to reliable health information and appropriate care, can help individuals make informed decisions about their health.

Sharing his thoughts on the occasion of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Gaurav Verma, Chief Business Officer at PharmEasy (API Holdings), said:

“Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women, yet conversations around it often take a backseat. Busy lives, lack of awareness, and hesitation to seek medical advice can mean that symptoms go unaddressed or medical consultations get delayed. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an important reminder to prioritise breast health, screen regularly, understand the signs to look out for, and seek medical advice when something feels unusual.

At PharmEasy, we believe that the right information and access to essential care are both important parts of the healthcare journey. Through our initiatives this month, we aim to spread awareness about breast cancer, the importance of regular screening and highlight the right steps for a self-exam at home. We also aim to simplify access to prescribed oncology medicines and make them more affordable with our Cancer Care services. Our goal is to help people make informed health decisions while easing some of the challenges patients and their families face during treatment.”

Access to reliable health information, timely medical consultation and appropriate treatment can play an important role in the breast cancer care journey. While awareness initiatives can encourage individuals to prioritise screening and recognise potential symptoms, access to prescribed medicines and support during treatment remain equally important for patients and their families. Recognising that every breast cancer journey is different, continued efforts to promote awareness, encourage early detection and improve access to essential care can help individuals make informed health decisions and navigate their treatment journeys with greater confidence.
