Chandigarh, June 6: As part of World Environment Day 2026, Cosmo Foundation, the community outreach arm of Cosmo First Ltd., celebrated the day with a series of employee engagement initiatives in Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The activities were aimed at raising people’s awareness of environmental issues and of engaging individuals in conservation efforts.

The employees gathered at Karjan, Gujarat to take an oath for sustainable environmental practices and participate in a plantation drive. As a part of organised activities, Cosmo Foundation in association with Prayas Youth Foundation hosted a Seed Ball Making Workshop in Delhi, and a plantation drive at the army cantonment biodiversity hub in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, where employees planted 100 saplings and contributed to long-term greening efforts. These activities were part of the World Environment Day celebrations and are in addition to the large-scale plantation programmes of the Cosmo Foundation.

It has impacted the lives of more than 7.78 lakh through its 3E approach various interventions spanning education, environment and community empowerment. Within its environmental focus area, the foundation has been instrumental in planting more than 1.61 lakh trees in Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat and Haryana in collaboration with Border Security Force, Indian Army, Prayas Youth Foundation etc. These efforts have resulted in over 179 acres of land being rehabilitated with a mix of plantation approaches including Miyawaki forests, agroforestry, high density plantations and fruit bearing trees which have created a richer biodiversity with over 80 tree species being planted. The Foundation has further promoted conservation of rainwater of more than 2.06 crore litres, through school-based rainwater harvesting systems, facilitated access to clean energy through solar installations across community institutions and fostered responsible waste management practices through the distribution of waste bins in schools and local communities.
In FY 2025-26 alone, the Foundation has planted 50,000 trees at BSF Chhawla, Delhi and in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, on a land area of nearly 10 acres of land. It also installed 17.98 kW of solar power systems in four rural schools in Karjan, supported over 220 families including beneficiaries of agroforestry interventions and individuals engaged at tree plantation sites and helped recycle 383.8 kilograms of electronic waste responsibly. More than 13,200 students and community members participated in drives for cleanliness, plastic collection, plantation, workshop and awareness sessions. Further, Swachhata Committees continued to function in 52 schools, involving over 10,000 students every year. At the same time, public green spaces such as Jasola Kos Minar Park in Delhi and Karjan Public Park in Gujarat continued to be maintained as part of the Foundation’s environmental programmes.
