Mumbai, June 10, 2024 – Growel’s 101 Mall in Mumbai proudly announces the launch of India’s first mall planetarium as part of its Edutainment Summer Event, “Beyond the Earth: Season 1 – The Moon.” This innovative event celebrates India’s remarkable journey and accomplishments in space science through a captivating visual, light, and sound show.
The 20-minute show promises to take students and visitors on an enthralling journey through the history and key achievements in the space sector. From the first dog in space in 1951 to the iconic Apollo mission in 1969, and the fascinating story of India’s space journey boasts remarkable milestones, starting with the launch of its first satellite, Aryabhatta, in 1975. Spearheaded by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the nation has excelled in satellite technology and launch vehicle development. Notably, ISRO’s early resourcefulness included transporting rocket parts on bicycles to overcome logistical challenges. Looking ahead, India’s ambitious Gaganyaan mission aims to send Indian astronauts, or “Gaganaughts,” into space, marking a significant leap in the nation’s space exploration capabilities including the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission to the Moon’s southern region, this event covers it all.
In addition to the breathtaking visuals and sound effects, the show highlights the pioneering work of renowned scientists like Aryabhatta, who discovered zero, and Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian in space, who famously said, “Saare Jahan Se Achha Hindustan Hamara.” Other notable figures featured include Dr. Homi Bhabha, Vikram Sarabhai, APJ Abdul Kalam, Thomas Harriot, and Galileo Galilei, all of whom have made significant contributions to the world of space science.
