Thiruvananthapuram, Feby 12: Aster Volunteers, the global CSR initiative of Aster DM Healthcare, in partnership with Shanthibhavan Palliative Hospital, has launched a new Mobile Medical Service unit aimed at serving underserved rural populations in Thiruvananthapuram. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the unit is designed to deliver essential medical and healthcare services directly to marginalized communities and populations with limited access to healthcare.

With this addition, the total number of operational Aster Volunteers mobile medical units across India has increased to 48, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to expanding accessible and equitable healthcare for underserved communities.

Aster also announced the upcoming launch of Aster Capital Trivandrum, which will significantly enhance access to advanced, multi-specialty care in the region. While the mobile medical units and community initiatives focus on grassroots outreach and preventive healthcare, Aster Capital will function as a comprehensive tertiary care hub, strengthening the overall healthcare ecosystem of Thiruvananthapuram. Together, these initiatives reflect Aster’s integrated approach of combining community outreach with world-class clinical excellence to build a healthier and more resilient Kerala.

The Mobile Medical Unit was flagged off by Shri K. Rajan, Minister for Revenue and Housing, Government of Kerala, at the Secretariat. The event was attended by Dr. Nalanda Jayadev, CEO, Aster Medcity, Kochi, and Fr. Joy Koothur, CEO, Shanthibhavan Palliative Care Hospitals, along with members of Aster Volunteers.

The unit is equipped with comprehensive amenities, including a patient waiting area and registration desk, a vital data collection point, a basic mini-laboratory with refrigerated storage, secure medicine storage and dispensing facilities, a consultation room for general practitioners, provisions for health education and awareness programs, and an expandable awning for outdoor shade.

Inaugurating the mobile medical unit, Shri K. Rajan, Minister for Revenue and Housing, said,
