New Delhi, 12 September 2026:

The Dr. M. L. Agarwal Educational and Rural Development Trust has been supporting the education and overall development of young girls through its Uthaan Education Centre in Inder Camp, Rangpuri slums. Established around three years ago, the centre provides tuition and educational support to girls between six and 14 years of age.

The centre currently supports 20 girls from the local community. To ensure that the programme remains accessible to families in the area, the Trust has hired a teacher from the community and appointed a coordinator to manage the day-to-day activities. The Trust has also arranged a dedicated room within the locality where the girls attend their educational sessions.

Uthaan has focused not only on providing additional academic support but also on helping girls continue or begin their formal schooling. While most of the girls were already attending school, the initiative also helped girls who were not enrolled in school secure admission in nearby schools. The programme aims to strengthen their academic foundation and encourage them to remain connected with education.

Alongside studies, the centre has introduced extracurricular activities to support the girls’ confidence and overall development. These activities include dance, sports and craft work, giving the students opportunities to learn and express themselves beyond the classroom. The initiative also uses these activities to encourage healthier and more meaningful engagement among children.

As part of the programme, a prize distribution function was recently organised to recognise the girls for their academic performance. The students who performed well in their school studies were felicitated during the event. The girls also presented dance performances, including a presentation carrying a message on the need for children to maintain a healthy balance with social media and avoid excessive exposure to digital platforms.

The event was attended by Dr Ravi Aggarwal,  trustee , Mrs  Anju Aggarwal trustee, Dr. Vishal Kaura Aggarwal, Consultant in Rheumatology at BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital; Dr. Raghav Aggarwal, a radiologist with expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound at Dr ML AggarwalImaging Centre Pvt Ltd SafdarjungEnclave; and social worker and  philanthropist Ms. Anjali Sharma. Their presence encouraged the students and highlighted the importance of community participation in initiatives aimed at improving access to education and opportunities for children.

Through Uthaan, the Dr. M. L. Agarwal Educational and Rural Development Trust seeks to create a supportive educational environment for girls from the local community. The initiative combines academic reinforcement with school access, extracurricular activities and recognition of students’ achievements, with the larger aim of helping young girls build confidence and continue their educational journey.
