New Tools for AI Content Protection

Participants in Project Galileo—including over 750 journalists, independent news organizations, and nonprofits—will now receive free access to:

  • Cloudflare Bot Management

  • AI Crawl Control services

This expansion allows these organizations to monitor and block unwanted AI crawlers, helping them retain control over their content in an AI-driven digital landscape.

Why It Matters

As AI models increasingly pull content from across the web to generate answers, fewer users visit the original news websites. This:

  • Reduces traffic and visibility

  • Threatens ad and fundraising revenue

  • Undermines local news and press freedom, especially in repressive or underserved communities

“We want to ensure the evolution of AI works in favor of independent media, not against it.”Matthew Prince, Co-founder & CEO, Cloudflare

About Project Galileo

Since 2014, Project Galileo has:

  • Protected nonprofits, human rights groups, and journalists from cyber threats

  • Provided free security services to support digital voices that might otherwise be silenced

Now, the program is extending its AI tools and protections to help these groups navigate the challenges posed by AI scraping and content misuse.
