Mumbai, June 5th, 2025– After a highly successful opening in March–April, Voir Dire—a group show featuring some of India’s most well-known artists—Anupa Mehta Contemporary Art, located in Colaba, is delighted to invite you to the opening of Voir Dire – Part II, a thought-provoking group exhibition that continues to explore the intersection of truth, perception, and artistic expression. This edition places a special focus on materiality and nature.

Opening to the public on June 12, 2025, the exhibition is curated by Anupa Mehta, a gallerist, curator, and author. Part II invites viewers to examine how truth is constructed, perceived, revealed, and shaped by diverse perspectives. Voir Dire – Part II brings together compelling works by acclaimed contemporary artists, including Madhvi Subrahmanian, Sumakshi Singh, Deepak Kumar, Vibha Galhotra, Priyanka Shah, and Chandrashekhar Koteshwar.

Rooted in an exploration of truth and perception, Voir Dire—a phrase derived from Old French meaning “truth telling”—is a legal term that refers to the process of questioning and uncovering hidden realities to distinguish between appearance and authenticity.  This exhibition also marks a shift in the gallery’s programming, reinforcing its commitment to showcasing established contemporary artists through curated group shows. The act of viewing enables multiple layers of truth to emerge, highlighting the artwork’s inherent capacity to communicate intent. Each piece stands as a witness to its time and environment, engaging in a form of voir dire—presenting fragments of truth, sometimes vivid, sometimes obscure—and inviting the viewer into the process of discovery. The interplay between material and meaning, illusion and reality, prompts deeper reflection. Through Voir Dire, the artwork and its intent become an invitation for the viewer to contemplate the interconnectedness of humanity and nature.
